‘African Violet’ to be screened at Chantilly filmfest

Iranian award-winning movie ‘African Violet’ is to be screened at the 2021 Iranian Cinema Festival of Chantilly in France.

Iranian award-winning movie ‘African Violet’ is slated to be screened at the 2021 Iranian Cinema Festival of Chantilly in France.

Seven films have been selected by the secretariat of the event from among 59 received films.

The 93-minute film is a compassionate drama of strength and reunion about Shokouh, a woman who finds out that her ex-husband, Fereydoun, has been placed in a nursing home by their children.

She and her new husband, who used to be her ex-husband's friend, make an unconventional decision to take care of Fereydoun in their own home.

Bringing Fereydoun to their home causes some troubles which leads the family to new adventures and revelations on their bonds.

The film stars Fatemeh Motamed-Arya, Saeed Aqakhani, Reza Babak, Mehdi Hosseininia, Roya Javidnia, and Neda Jebraeeli.

The Iranian Cinema Festival of Chantilly is organized by the Franco-Iranian Center in collaboration with the municipalities of Chantilly and Senlis as well as several Iranian art institutions and film production companies.

The upcoming edition of the event will take place on November 4-7.
